Throwing a 90s Party

Your guide to throwing a retro 90s themed party

90s Music

90s Party Music

You will want the 90s music flowing all night long during your 90s party, so load up on the top hits from the 90s. It s best to keep it up beat.. While you might have been a big fan of Michael Bolton, that is not really the kind of rocking music that will get a party going. That does not mean just playing the club dance music from the likes of CC & The Music Factory, Haddaway or Real McCoy. The 90s was all about R&B music (and Rap music if you are into Hip Hop), so make sure and play plenty of Bell Biv Devoe, Janet Jackson, Montell Jordan, Salt-N-Pepa, etc.. You will also want to throw in some Pop (Ace of Base, Spice Girls, N' SYNC, etc..) and Alternative (Third Eye Blind, Blues Traveler, etc..). Don't forget that Pop Metal was still going strong in the very early 90s. Songs by Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, and Guns N Roses are always great late night choices to get the party revved up. Check out the 90s Video Channels on this web site for music ideas .

90s Movies & TV

You also want to have some classic 90s movies playing in the background. Clueless, Waynes World, and Tommy Boy are great movies to have on and all are available on the 90s DVD set "5 Iconic Films of the 90s". You could also recreate MTV by showing our 90s Music Video Station.

You will want to make people feel like they are in the 90s at your party, so you will need party decorations and props from the 90s scattered around the room. 90s Photo Prop Kits are always a great option. Another good party favor are 90s Buttons for people to wear at the party.

Other good party favors would be candy popular from the 90s (Airheads, Gummis, Warheads, etc..). You can find these at the Old Time Candy Company. Or you could always go with the World's Largest Gummy Bear.

You will also want to give the guests of your 90s party something to do when they aren't dancing to the great 90s tunes. You could spice up your party with some 90s name that tune contests, where you play a snipit of an 90s song and ask your guests to guess the song title.
